There's something about being with people who get me!

Hi,

There’s a reason I keep dancing. And it has very little to do with the dancing itself.

Well, okay. The music helps. The movement. The sheer joy of losing myself in a song with a room full of women.

Sometimes, when you’ve been in your head for too long, trying to work something out, turning it over from every possible angle, you don’t need another hour alone with your thoughts.

You need connection.

Someone who can sit with you in the middle of it all and not make you feel like you need to pull yourself together. Someone who listens. Who gets curious. Who helps you find your way back to what you already know, underneath all the noise.

There’s a safety in that.

Our bodies respond to the people we’re with. When we feel safe with someone, we can begin to soften. To breathe a little deeper. To stop bracing for a moment.

That’s co-regulation. And I reckon it’s one of the most beautiful things about being human. We get to help each other find our feet. Not by fixing each other. Not by having all the answers.

By being there.

I see it in the conversations I have with women. I feel it when I dance. I feel it in those moments when someone sees something in me that I’ve temporarily lost sight of myself.

And it reminds me why I care so much about the spaces I create.

Because you spend so much of your life being there for everyone else.

What if you had somewhere to be met, too?

Somewhere you could bring the messy, unfinished, not-quite-sure-what-I’m-feeling version of yourself. Somewhere you didn’t have to arrive with a solution.

Just yourself.

I think we need more of that. More honest conversations. More rooms where women can take up space. More music, movement, laughter and people who make us feel a little more like ourselves.

Not because any of it makes life perfect. But because life feels different when we don’t have to navigate all of it alone.

And sometimes, that’s when we remember.

The woman underneath the mental load. The person beneath the roles. The parts of ourselves that come alive when we feel safe enough to let them.

Oh. There I am.

I don’t think we need to become people who never lose our way. I think we need to know ourselves well enough, and have people around us safe enough, that we can find our way back.

Again and again. Together.

Huge love,
