Did someone say Retreat?

Callie Brown on couch with laptop holding a pencil

Hello beautiful,

Maybe joy isn’t a feeling. Maybe it’s a compass.

Not the big, fireworks kind. The tiny kind.

The song that makes your hips sway before you’ve realised you’re dancing. The laugh that softens your shoulders. The afternoon light that makes you stop and look up. The quiet whisper of, “More of this.”

We dismiss those moments because they’re not productive enough. Not useful enough. Not important enough.

But what if they’re the breadcrumbs? What if joy has been trying to lead you home all along?

Because when you’re connected to that part of yourself, everything gets clearer.

You know when you’re full. You know when you need to be alone. You know when you need people. You know when your body wants movement instead of another coffee. You know what’s a wholehearted yes. And what was always a no.

It’s like the volume gets turned back up. And when you lose that connection, life starts to feel a little beige. Music becomes something playing in the background instead of something moving through you.

You stop dancing in the kitchen. You stop surprising yourself. Not because joy disappeared. Just because life got a little too noisy to hear it.

I keep coming back to this image of us as instruments. Not perfect ones. Some a little dusty. Some played so hard they’ve forgotten what rest feels like.

But every single one still carries its own sound. Its own rhythm. Its own way of making music.

And when someone is truly connected to theirs, you can feel it. Not because they’re impressive. Because they look free.

That’s what Brie and I are creating with Rhythm & Rest.

Not a retreat where you come to learn how to dance.

A weekend where your shoulders remember how to soften. Where music isn’t something you listen to.

It’s something you remember has been inside you all along.

Huge love,
