How my daughter reminded me about FUN...

Hello lovely

Taking my kids to the theatre fills my heart in the most unexpected ways.

Growing up, film sets and theatre wings were like home, places where I felt truly alive, drinking in the sounds of a bustling auditorium, feeling the excitement before a performance. Now, watching my kids revel in these spaces feels nostalgic and deeply nourishing, as if we’re sharing in a secret, passed down. It’s like a piece of that world lives in their blood.

Lately, my daughter and her friend have taken to playing original cast recordings of musicals, complete with “backstage” pauses for quick changes and playful dressing room banter.

The other day, I overheard them doing their own finale of Wicked bows, panting joy, and all. They retreated to their “dressing room,” laughing about the “audience” engagement and talking about how lucky they felt, purely, unabashedly.

It got me thinking… How often do artists finish a song, show, or project with that same pure excitement and pride? How often are we brave enough to feel full joy in our craft, before the doubts, critiques, and sneaky thief of joy creep in?

So many artists find themselves on a high, only to crash into a wall of self-doubt, convinced they’ve fooled everyone—that they’re imposters in the very spaces they’ve poured their hearts into.

What if we could bring back the fun, the playful joy, the thrill of being in the moment? When was the last time you felt full-on, unstoppable fun in your work, your gift, your creative expression?

Let’s talk to that inner critic and remember: true, honest joy is never a fraud. It’s the real reason we’re here, and the purest offering we can share. Let’s embrace that energy and bring back the fun in creating. Because that’s where the real magic lives.

Watching my daughter and her friend reminds me: let’s bring back play, fun, and creativity to override the relentless pressure we place on success and productivity.

Let joy be your antidote—let fun keep you from coming undone!

Huge love,
