Meaning rarely arrives dressed as fireworks

Hello beautiful,
We spent over $800 on theatre tickets. Worth every cent.
Not because the show was extraordinary. Because the row we were sitting in was- four siblings and our Mum and Dad.
Different states. Busy lives, partners, kids and calendars that almost said no.
I kept catching myself looking along the row before the lights went down.
Not at the stage, at them. Thinking- this is the memory. Not the musical. Not what I ate from the dinner menu. Not who sat where. Just…this. The fact that we all made it here!
It’s funny, isn’t it? We spend so much of our lives saving for the big things, planning for what’s next, chasing meaningful moments…while quietly standing inside them.
Meaning rarely arrives dressed as fireworks.
It usually looks like someone ordering dessert. Your dad making the same joke he’s made for twenty years. Your sister laughing before anyone else gets it. Everyone showing up. Buying the ticket. Booking the flight. Finding the babysitter. Choosing to be there.
A meaningful life doesn’t happen by accident. It asks something of us. Our attention. Our time. Sometimes our money. Sometimes our convenience. Sometimes our willingness to rearrange everything else because we already know what we won’t regret.
Life is loud. Responsibilities are relentless.
And the world will always offer a thousand places to spend our attention. Which is why we have to become fiercely protective of what we cherish.
Because the things that give life meaning don’t usually shout. They whisper. And if we’re not careful, we’ll spend our days tending to everything except the very things that make us feel alive.
In the end, I don’t think we’ll remember everything we did. I think we’ll remember who was beside us while we were doing it.
Maybe the richest people aren’t the ones with the most money. Maybe they’re the ones who know exactly what deserves it.
I cherish my family, so I make sure to create opportunities for cherished moments together!
Tell me, What do you cherish? And how?
Huge love,
