I have never been the best at anything...

Callie Brown on couch with laptop holding a pencil

Hello beautiful,

I’ve never been the best at anything.

Not the fastest. Not the most talented. Not the obvious one everyone picked to win.

I’ve spent most of my life somewhere in the mix. Close enough to be inspired by the best. Never convinced I had to become them.

And I’ve realised, maybe that’s never actually been my game. Because while some people seem wired to conquer, compete and collect trophies, I’ve always been wired for commitment.

When something lights me up, I go all in. Not because I need to beat someone else. Because I want to find out who I become when I give something my whole heart.

There have almost always been people more naturally gifted than me. Better dancers. Better athletes. Better speakers. Better business owners.

Good.

They were never my measuring stick.

My only real question has been:

What could I become if I stayed devoted?

That devotion has built a life. A business. Friendships. Stages. Adventures. Moments I never could have planned.

Not because I was the best. Because I kept showing up.

I think we spend so much of our lives chasing the title of best, when what actually changes us is being deeply, joyfully, relentlessly committed.

So these days, I’m not trying to win.

I’m putting my hat in the ring. I’m saying yes to the things that make me feel wildly alive.

I’m stretching my own edges. I’m breaking my own glass ceilings. And I’m discovering that the only lane I’ve ever needed to stay in, is my own.

Maybe the point was never becoming the best. Maybe the point was becoming the fullest expression of myself.

Turns out, that’s a race no one else can run but me.

Big love,
